Our Mission and Values
Our founders envisioned an organization that would bring together hospitals to improve the practice of medicine. Today, we have the privilege of caring for patients across 190 hospitals and approximately 2,400 ambulatory sites of care in 20 states and the United Kingdom.

Every day, more than 300,000 colleagues go to work with a collective focus: our patients. This focus guides our work to develop comprehensive, local healthcare networks that deliver high-quality and convenient care, as well as our investments in solutions to aid the overall well-being of our colleagues.
As a learning health system, HCA Healthcare analyzes data from approximately 44 million patient encounters each year. We use this data to develop technologies and best practices that help improve patient care. We also share our learnings with the larger healthcare community and government agencies to help improve care everywhere.
We believe there are many ways to champion health, and we embrace our responsibility to support the attributes of a healthy community through employment, investment and charitable giving. In 2024, we spent $4.7 billion on capital investment in property and equipment, and we paid significant taxes that helped revitalize communities. We also provided charity care, uninsured discounts and other uncompensated care at an estimated cost of more than $4.3 billion and gave more than $48.5 million to community organizations.
